Quaid Sues "Brokeback" Producers

Does anyone else find it surprising that Randy Quaid commands a seven-figure fee and a cut of the gross receipts when he does a movie?  Apparently, that's one of the grounds for his $10 million fraud claim against the producers of the multiple Oscar winner, Brokeback Mountain.

I find the whole thing very odd. But, on the other hand, if I remember correctly, Quaid was told that the movie was a small, indy flick that probably wouldn't garner much money. (When actually it was being backed by a bunch of big movie companies, and only being called "independent" or some such.) On that basis he took less by way of salary than what he wanted. If it's true, then what he was told was a lie, and he should be compensated for it.

I fully agree with that point, CardMart. He should be compensated if the studio defrauded him, and it sounds like he has a decent starting point for his case.

But, $1,000,000+ per feature film? I mean, he's Randy Quaid for Chrissakes! What has he done lately to warrant that price?

I ask myself that almost everytime I read about sport figures, CEO's and politicians pulling down the same amount! Meanwhile, the nerd sitting in a lab somewhere trying to cure cancer is making under six figures, and the social worker trying to save children in dysfunctional homes is lucky to earn $50,000. There's no rhyme or reason to wages in this screwy world of ours.
